After working in the construction business for about 10 years with other companies, Zelda and Art, natives of Lubbock, started Art Cuevas Construction in 1984. They focus most of their attention on custom floor plans and make it a point to stay away from volume building of spec homes. Art and Zelda received the prestigious Texas Pennacle Award for “Outstanding Custom Builders” presented by the Texas Association of Realtors, and they also received “Custom Builder of the Year” from the Lubbock Association of Realtors.
Art was also chosen by the U.S. Small Business Administration to receive the Minority Small Business Person of the Year Award for the 71-county Lubbock district.
